NIGHT FLIGHT

The sky was ablaze with beauty,
The cities were dripping with gold,
But my heart was almost on empty.
Doubt and fear made me afraid,
Icy and cold.

I had never seen such beauty.
It went on and on and on.
"Light," I saw, was the answer.
In the dark, it began to dawn.

It was altitude that gave the perspective.
The window seat provided the view.
Not asleep on an inside aisle,
My thought was open for all that is true.

It came in a realization,
Thought can't be dragged down with personal me
With altitude of clear thinking,
Thought will be certain, whole, perfect, and free.

We must have night flights daily
To soar over error, doubts, and fear.
To see every God idea clearly,
And hear, "I am holding you near."

When you think you're in need of an answer,
Take off and soar into the night.
There can only be smooth, calm flying,
And God will be always in sight.
