The Wide Sweep of Spiritual healing

If you were to stop ten people on the street and ask them how they might define healing, I feel certain you'd get ten very different answers. And if you then qualified the question and asked those same people to consider spiritual healing, the responses would surely be different once again—even from their original conclusions.

It might be something like asking ten people to define what they each see in a sunset, or in a broad expanse of ocean on a summer morning, or in a wildflower meadow at the foot of a rugged mountain range. To put these things into words stretches us. And our perceptions are often as varied as our unique, individual experiences. Yet there is usually also a common ground that we all share, a mutual understanding that goes beyond the words.

I found this to be true when I did have the opportunity a couple of years ago to talk with many people about their views of spiritual healing. I heard from hundreds of women, men, and chldren as my wife and I traveled all around the United States and Canada, and as far away from our home base as Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand.
