HOW GOD HELPED US!

I forgave my sister

One day our whole family went to the paint store. Dad went in, and the rest of us waited in the car with my mom. He was in the store a long, long time. Then my brother Tim went in. We still waited. And waited. Then my sister Catherine wanted to go in, and I wanted to go with her. She didn't want me to go, so she shut the car door right behind her. I tried to stop the door with my hand. Instead, it closed on my hand. I started crying, and so did Catherine.

Then Catherine and mom and I talked about forgiving people. I loved Catherine and I had to forgive her. And I did. And Catherine had to forgive herself—and she did. And by the time my dad came out of the paint store, my hand was OK.

My lost earring

One day, when I came home from school, I realised I had only one of my two earrings. I told Mom, and we both began searching my clothes and my room for it. The earring was expensive. It was made of real gold.

We drove back to school, even though it was raining and very windy. My teacher helped us look for the earring in the courtyard, where we had had our bootscooting dance class earlier in the day.

We still didn't find it.

On the way back, Mom explained to me that nothing is lost with God, because God is the one Mind that knows everything. Then Mom and I sang the hymn “Shepherd, show me how to go...” (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 304). When we returned home Mom kept singing that hymn. Then she said, “Show us where to look, Shepherd.”

We went to look in my bed. When we lifted the pillow we found the tiny, gold earring. I was very happy. We thanked God for proving to us that He is the one all-knowing Mind.

A haircut

One day my father was giving me a haircut, and by mistake he cut the tip of my ear. I began crying. It hurt a lot and was bleeding. Dad wiped off the blood and took me in his arms. I know he wanted to make me feel better. So Dad and I started praying.

First, he helped me remember that I was God's child. And he said that God didn't know about accidents. God always keeps His children safe.

Then we started to say the Lord's Prayer. Dad was explaining every line of the prayer to me. We got to this one: “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Dad said this meant that God corrects bad thoughts. And He takes us into safety where we can feel only His love. When Dad said that, I got very quiet. I didn't think of any hurt. God filled me with good thoughts and with His love. The pain stopped.

A few hours later, my mom and brother came home. I told them what happened to me. I went to show them my ear, but I couldn't remember which one had been hurt. My brother looked at both. He couldn't find any cut at all.

I am glad that I go to Sunday School. I learn so much about God.

Soon I was all well

One night, when I was seven years old, I had a very high fever. Because of the fever, I had convulsions. My dad called my grandmother and asked her to pray for me. We prayed together the Lord's Prayer. My grandma asked me what I had learned in Sunday School that Sunday, and I said, “God is Love,” and that because God loved me, God never gave me anything that was not good.

So we knew that God did not make any fever.

Soon I fell asleep. When Grandma came to see me early in the morning, I was playing on the terrace. I was all well.

I am very grateful to God, because He is Love.

My ear stopped hurting

One night I was asleep, and suddenly a strong pain in my ear woke me up. I began crying. I called my mom, and she woke up and took me in her arms.

Mom prayed with me. We began repeating Psalm 91 from the Bible. It starts like this: “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Soon it was dawn, and I stopped crying because the pain was gone. And I heard my Father God telling me: “I will never leave you. I will always take care of you and protect you from all evil.”

Afterward I went to school. And my ear didn't hurt anymore.

The best dog to me!

I have a dog named Bali. About one year ago my dad and I noticed Bali's leg had grown two times bigger than it usually was. My dad said that probably a rattlesnake had bitten him! In the desert where we live, rattlesnakes are common.

I was really scared. My dad reassured me that Bali would be all right. This calmed me down.

We brought Bali inside and cleaned his leg. He couldn't walk on it and just lay down. My whole family comforted Bali and prayed for him. We were sure that God was going to heal him. We prayed and trusted that none of God's creatures; would harm another. The only thought I had was that Bali was perfect because God made him that way. He was God's creature, and God made him spiritual and perfect, like Himself.

In about a week, Bali was healed. And now today, to me, he is the best dog. He can still run and can jump very high.

The bees go back home

My name is Davi, and I'm five. One day, I was eating lunch and there were some bees next to me. I was having yogurt. Then the bees landed on top of me. So I prayed to God that He would send the bees away from me. And the bees went away. I think they went back to their home. And they didn't sting me.

I also pray for my friends and for other people. One day, my friend Olivio ran out of the pizza place to catch the bus, and he fell and hurt his knee and arm. When I saw him, I thought, “I'm going to pray to God and his hurt will go away.”

I also prayed for Olivio at school. The teacher put a bandage on him. When Olivio came back to school the next day, his hurt was gone. That's because God is good.

I learned that God is Love and goodness. He protects us. And I know that God heals.
