"A different perspective"

I learned about Christian Science through my mom, and soon all my family started attending church. We liked the explanations about the Bible. Then I began going to Sunday School, and it was nice because the teachers would help us whenever we came with any doubt or problem.

In 1998 I went to a big gathering of college students, held at The Mother Church in Boston. It was beautiful, and I got to know students from other parts of the world. There was a lot of unity among us. When you know you can solve problems through prayer, you see things from a different perspective — a spiritual one. All those students agreed on this point.

Something that happened there showed me how powerful this spiritual perspective is. One day, a girl from our group couldn't find her money. She became very anxious because that was the only money she had left, and we had to return to Argentina soon.

We all began praying with her. The girl calmed down and began praying, too. We knew that nothing was lost to God, and that God is everywhere. Then the girl looked everywhere very carefully in the dorm where we were staying. And she found the money in a pocket of her jacket.

Prayer helps me a lot in school. Usually you feel a lot of pressure, and you never have enough time to do things.

Once I had studied hard, but I had been unable to cover all the material for a compulsory exam.

I put myself in God's hands, knowing He would help me. And I did well on the exam. I learned to be more dedicated and organized, and to handle my time better. And I learned to pray about my studying.

I was also able to quit smoking. I realized I was throwing my money away on cigarettes — and holding on to something that wasn't good. My classmates in college smoked, too. At the beginning it wasn't easy, but eventually I stopped. And some of my classmates did the same thing.

And there's been another important change in my life. In the past, whenever I had a headache I would take aspirin. Now I pray and take no medicine. And the headaches disappear.
