Normal bodily functions return
Some time ago I discovered a small growth on my body. Normal bodily functions resulted in a stinging pain.
I began praying. After a while, I called my sister and asked her to pray with me.
I realized that I needed to acknowledge God's will as the only law, the only real power. It became clear to me that God's spiritual creation is faultless and perfect, because the creator is faultless and perfect. My sister pointed out this idea to me in
Unity of Good by Mary Baker Eddy: "Christ cannot come to mortal and material sense, which sees not God.This false sense of substance must yield to His eternal presence, and so dissolve" (p. 60 ).
I realized that it was my thinking that had to be transformed.
The word dissolve had a special meaning to me. I realized that it was my thinking that had to be transformed and become more Christlike. I felt willing to let the Christ transform my thinking, eliminate what was wrong, and transform my character. This process was the true growth that needed to take place in my life.
I felt with conviction that I was then and there unseparated from God—from divine Life, Truth, and Love. I was without guilt, and unfettered, no matter what my physical condition seemed to be.
As I pondered these truths deeply, the physical difficulty disappeared. The normal functions of the body were once again unhampered and free of pain. That which was not Christlike had been dissolved.
