Congestion and fever healed

After having had mild cold symptoms for a couple of days, I woke one day with severe congestion and a fever. I knew from long experience that this could be healed through prayer, but I found it hard to pray.

I had some recordings of Science and Health, and I began to play the chapter titled "Science of Being." At first my thoughts were focused on how uncomfortable I felt. Then I heard—really heard—these sentences, "If God, who is Life, were parted for a moment from His reflection, man, during that moment there would be no divinity reflected.

The Ego would be unexpressed, and the Father would be childless,—no Father" (p. 306).

I was suddenly well. There was not one trace of the congestion or fever.

I realized that it was impossible for God not to be expressed. But then I wondered about all the "moments" when I had been aware of these symptoms. It appeared now that I had a distinct choice to make: either the congestion was true, or the truth was that I was always with all-loving God, and He was always caring for me.

I finally saw that no matter how severe the symptoms were, they couldn't be the truth—God couldn't be absent. With that realization, I was suddenly well. There was not one trace of the congestion or fever. I was so happy. This healing was proof to me of what Jesus told us: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32 ).

That was just one of many healings I have had. I am deeply grateful for all that the study of Christian Science has brought into my life.
