"Right where the problem seems to be, right there, God is governing"

"Right where the problem seems to be, right there, God is governing." This was the arresting thought conveyed to me by a Christian Science practitioner I had called upon for treatment through prayer for a painful bladder infection that had previously been treated by medical science.

Finding that medication gave only temporary relief, and for shorter and shorter periods of time, I desired to be healed once and for all through Christian Science. I threw the pills in the trash barrel and never looked back. It was clear to me that medical science bases its fundamental premises on the reality of matter, while Christian Science is based on the nothingness of matter and the allness of Spirit, God. In the Preface of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy writes, "Theology and physics teach that both Spirit and matter are real and good, whereas the fact is that Spirit is good and real, and matter is Spirit's opposite" (p. viii).

Each morning I arose much earlier than my family so I could study the Bible Lesson found in the Christian Science Quarterly. This study was very important to me. Knowing that "God was governing, right where the problem seemed to be" brought out the spiritual truth that I was made in God's perfect image and likeness. I was right then, at that moment, a perfect idea in Mind, exhibiting all of the qualities of Soul, God. I could no more fall from perfection than could God. I knew myself to be God's child, expressing health, energy, joy, beauty, and fearlessness.
