After attending a Christian Science testimony meeting for the first time, over forty years ago, I was so impressed that I have stayed with the study of this Science ever since. It gave me what I had been looking for. Right at the beginning I witnessed a major healing. A relative was suffering mental illness. He lay in a hospital in a room with a door he could not open from the inside. He was to be transferred to a mental hospital. He was healed through Christian Science, even though he never spoke with the practitioner. An aunt of mine, who was in touch with a practitioner concerning another matter, asked the practitioner if he might be able to help this man as well. The practitioner told her to ask him whether he believed that God could make him well. After my aunt had gone to see the patient alone, and he had affirmed that he believed God could heal him, the practitioner prayed for him.

Soon thereafter the man's son was informed that he could take his father home on a trial basis. To the astonishment of the whole family, the father remained calm the whole day and in the evening allowed himself to be brought back quietly to the hospital. Shortly thereafter he was released. There was no further recurrence of any kind of mental illness. At the time of his healing he was sixty-nine. He lived to be eighty-three.

I witnessed another quick healing with my daughter when she was seventeen. She had a serious throat inflammation and was unable to speak. I asked for Christian Science treatment. The practitioner told me that when I returned home my daughter would be well, and so it was. When I arrived home, my daughter, who had lain in bed for two days, came to meet me beaming with joy and said she was well. The abscess had opened around three o'clock. That was the time that I had spoken with the practitioner.

My husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, was healed of a chronic gastric complaint about twenty years ago. He had lived almost entirely on milk and zwieback. Through X-ray pictures it was found that he had a large stomach ulcer. In addition he was to have all his teeth pulled. He was very discouraged. I advised him to let himself be treated in Christian Science. He went to see a practitioner whom he knew well. When he came home after the visit he said joyfully that the pressure in his stomach was gone. Not only was he healed of the ulcer, but his teeth did not need to be pulled.

My family and I have had many blessings, healings, and the solving of problems of supply and other needs. We thank God for Mrs. Eddy's great work, which she has left us so that we can better understand God and follow Christ Jesus in daily life.

I am happy to verify that about twenty years ago I was healed of a stomach ailment of many years standing through the help of a loving practitioner at one visit.

About four years ago I contracted pneumonia. I had already been put in the intensive care unit. After talking with a practitioner through my wife, and after giving my consent, I was released from the hospital, where I had lain in a single room for three weeks and been given little hope of recovery. I recovered. Since this time I have not smoked anymore, which I wouldn't have thought possible, for I was a so-called chain smoker.
