Christian Science has been my constant companion for twenty...

Christian Science has been my constant companion for twenty years. My father was healed of a nervous breakdown through the help of a Christian Science practitioner. As a result of this healing in 1947, our whole family accepted Christian Science. Through the years I have been able to demonstrate its guiding, healing, and protective powers.

In school, Christian Science guided me in deciding what courses to follow. By applying the truths I learned I was able to make good grades on many difficult exams.

In the years of progress since, one healing stands out. It took place some time ago. I had worked late one afternoon, and as I left the building to go home, the symptoms of flu suddenly overcame me. I managed to reach home, but when I was in the house, I gave in to error and went straight to bed. I had not been there five minutes when the Bible account of Jesus' healing of Peter's wife's mother came to my thought. [The account reads (Matt. 8:14,15 ): "When Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them."] The words that came vividly to me are, "she arose, and ministered unto them."

A flood of warmth and light entered my whole being, and I was able to get up to prepare supper. As I worked in the kitchen, I remembered Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health (p. 393 ), "Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good." Indeed I had risen in the strength of Spirit. I rejoiced and was truly grateful. None of the symptoms, and not even the suggestion of flu, has ever returned.

I have had the opportunity of traveling a great deal by car, plane, and ship and have experienced beautiful protection in all my travels. Our home has been protected by God's omnipotence too.

I am grateful for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for his and our Father-Mother God, and to Mrs. Eddy for writing the book that contains the Science of healing demonstrated by Christ Jesus.

I am increasingly thankful for class instruction, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for the blessed opportunity to work on committees and to teach in the Sunday School. I am more grateful each day for the periodicals including The Christian Science Monitor, which indeed bless the world today.

I am happy to be able to vouch for the healings related in my wife's testimony. I know that during the sixteen years of our marriage Christian Science has been her only means of healing.
