The Value of Importunity

"There are progress and demonstration for each
one who continues patiently in prayer"

At one time Jesus asked his disciples, "which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?" (Luke 11:5, 6.) Jesus continued his parable by saying that at first the one within the house would be unwilling to arise and help his caller. At last, however, though the householder would not rise and give him bread because of his friendship, yet because of the importunity of the one in need he would rise and give him what he asked for. If one continues to ask, is persevering and persistent, he will be given that for which he asks.
