Shortly before I began the study of Christian Science twenty-four years ago, I had more problems than I thought one man could take care of. This led to a crisis in my human experience. I had been having some medical attention without receiving any benefit; so I decided to seek help from another doctor in whom I had much faith. I asked for a thorough examination. After the examination the doctor sat down at his desk and shook his head. I then asked him how long he thought I had to live, and his reply was most discouraging, especially to a young man.

However, six weeks earlier I had been introduced to a Christian Science practitioner, and even while I was in the doctor's office the thought of Christian Science comforted me and allayed my fears. So I left the doctor's office, walked a few blocks to the practitioner's office, and received my first Christian Science treatment. When I got home that night, I disposed of three different medicines that I had been taking.

My healing was slow, but it came when I was able to cleanse my consciousness of bitterness and resentment. I also had to learn that man, in reality the image and likeness of eternal Love, has no past in which he has experienced evil.

The problems which had seemed so difficult faded away, and I have enjoyed many other blessings since my first healing. I have also experienced divine Love's protecting presence and power to sustain life.

I am deeply grateful for all the good that has come to me and mine through the operation of the spiritual law of God, which is revealed to us as we study and apply the teachings of Christian Science. For the peace, joy, and love which bless us in our daily lives through this Science, I am grateful. To have a marriage and home established through an understanding of the spiritual truths taught in Christian Science is another added blessing.
