On Thursday afternoons at our...

On Thursday afternoons at our school we are excused to have released time religious classes. I go to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, for Bible class. On Sundays I go with my brother and my sister to Sunday School.

One Thursday I was not feeling well. At first I thought I would not go to Bible class; but the woman I ride with each week came to get me, so I went. During class my teacher did some prayerful work for me, and I knew the truth that God's perfect child cannot be sick. A wrong thought was trying to sneak into my thinking.

My teacher told me to say in Jesus' words (Matt. 16:23 ), "Get thee behind me, Satan," or to say, "Go away, error." So I said: "Go away, error. You can't stay with me because you are nothing. I don't have to mind you." When class was over, I got into the car to go back to school, feeling like a new person. I am very grateful to God for my healing, and I am thankful that I am learning how to use Christian Science. In Sunday School my teacher helps me with this.

Whenever we have problems in our home, we ask God to show us how to work them out. Once I asked Mother why we have problems, and she said it is something like arithmetic. If we know how to multiply, add, subtract, and divide but have no problems in arithmetic to work out, we will never learn to use what we know.

Most of the time when we need help, we read the Bible and Science and Health, and God shows us what to do. Mother says reading these books opens our thinking so that we can understand what we should do.

My sister was sent home from school one afternoon because the school nurse said she had the measles. When I came home, Mother said that she wanted me to see my sister as she really is, not the way error tries to get us to see her. Mother then pointed out that my sister is God's child, and she is therefore perfect; that nothing is real but good, which is a reflection of God; and that since God is everywhere, there is no place left for measles to stay.

Later my sister took a nap. When we called her to eat supper, she was quite well. Right away we all thanked God, and we were grateful to Mrs. Eddy for showing people how to understand and use Christian Science.

Mother has told us that Mrs. Eddy worked a long time on Science and Health so that everyone could learn how to understand God and use Christian Science. When I grow up, I should like to be a Sunday School teacher and help other people to learn about Christian Science.—Douglas C. Noto, Venice, California.
