Announcement
The Christian Science Board of Directors announces the election of Mrs. Helen Wood Bauman, C. S. B., of Boston, Massachusetts, as Editor of The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald, of Christian Science, effective November 18, 1959.
As an Associate Editor of the periodicals since 1948, Mrs. Bauman is well known to the Field. She became a member of The Mother Church in 1920 and entered the public practice of Christian Science in 1932. Following instruction in the Normal class of the Board of Education, Mrs. Bauman became a teacher of Christian Science in 1946, and in 1958 she was the teacher of the Normal class of that Board.
Mrs. Bauman succeeds Harold Molter, C. S. B., who passed on in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 1. Mr. Molter faithfully served the Cause of Christian Science as an authorized teacher, as Committee on Publication for Illinois, as a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, as an Associate Editor, and as Editor of the Christian Science periodicals. Fittingly it can be said of him, as our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, said of another faithful worker in our Cause, "but as the Christian Scientist, the servant of God and man. he still lives, loves, labors" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 295 ).
The Directors also announce the election of Ralph E. Wagers, C. S. B., of Chicago, Illinois, as an Associate Editor of the periodicals. Mr. Wagers is a native of Michigan. He became interested in Christian Science in 1910 through a healing he experienced.
In 1919 Mr. Wagers became a member of The Mother Church and two years later, he received Primary class instruction in Christian Science. In 1925 he withdrew from business to devote all his time to the practice of Christian Science healing, moving from Wisconsin to Chicago, where he is now a member of Sixteenth Church of Christ, Scientist. He has served that church as a member and as chairman of its executive board.
In 1940 Mr. Wagers was a member of the Normal class in the board of Education and became a teacher of Christian Science. In June, 1946, he was elected to membership on The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, in which capacity he has served continuously since that time, except for brief periods when he retired for study and practice.
Mr. Wagers will continue to hold his classes and conduct the meetings of the association of his pupils in Chicago, Illinois.
