At the close of the day, as I was...

At the close of the day, as I was walking hurriedly along the corridor of the school where I was employed, I slipped and fell with great force. My arm and foot were badly injured, and the impact was so great that a large jar of paste which I was carrying broke, cutting my hand in several places. Other people, hearing the crash, came to my aid and helped me to my feet; whereupon I assured them that all was well.

Immediately I turned to God in prayer. I was enabled to drive myself home, a distance of a few blocks, declaring on the way that man in God's perfect, spiritual image and likeness is always governed by God and therefore cannot fall and that there is no law or power apart from God to deprive man of harmonious existence.

However, there were much pain and fear to be overcome and a strong suggestion that bones were either broken or dislocated; so I called a friend who is an experienced worker in Christian Science and asked for treatment. Immediately the answer came in the form of the promise contained in Psalms (34:20 ), "He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken."

Complete reliance was placed on God, and no X rays were taken, with the result that overnight the wounds in the hand were healed without a trace of a scar. Shock and nausea were overcome. Within a few hours the pain in the foot ceased, and I was able to walk without any difficulty.

The healing of the arm was slower, but as I was able to rise above all the evil suggestions which presented themselves, including self-pity, self-condemnation, resentment, worry, impatience, and the fear of falling, I was completely freed from the pain and regained normal use of my arm.

I am deeply grateful for this healing and for many other healings, including the overcoming of influenza, nervous disorders, and acute indigestion. A severe pain in my side was healed when I realized the truth contained in Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 390 of Science and Health which reads, "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony."

Much gratitude is due the loyal friends and practitioners who help us through these testing times. Class instruction has brought an increased understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him, and I am most grateful to Mrs. Eddy for all the avenues she has provided in which this wonderful truth can be presented to the world. —(Mrs.) Marjorie A.
