During the twenty-five years I have had the privilege of studying Christian Science I have never called a doctor, except when necessary to get required medical certificates. It is not that I have never had any ailments, but they have all been healed, either through my own understanding or with the help of a Christian Science practitioner. I have had instantaneous healings through the application of but a few words of Truth. This shows clearly that the Word has in itself a dynamic power and that even beginners in its application can have clear proof of its efficacy.

I had such an experience at the beginning of my study of Christian Science. At that time I suffered from headaches. One day I was at the place where I worked, which was a long bus trip from my home. It was near the end of the day, and I was getting ready to go to the bus and ride home. Suddenly a headache attacked me. I felt very miserable and was certain that I would not manage to get home before the headache was at its worst. I sat down on a chair and thought of what I had learned in Christian Science. Then very humbly I repeated, "God is Love." Immediately the pain was gone. I got up, went to the bus, and rode home. Since then I have never had a headache of any sort.

Some ten years later I had a similar experience. One of my daughters during her childhood suffered from an alarming malignant complaint. It got so bad that the question arose whether she would have to leave school. A practitioner worked for her at different times, but without results. Finally, in my anxiety and concern I went into my room, shut the door, and said just these words: "Of a truth, God is Mind." The light which this brought into my thought was so strong that I understood immediately what was needed in the case, and the child was soon free.

These experiences and many like them have led me to see how important it is to apply God's Word. The Bible teaches us the Word, and Christian Science helps us to understand it and to apply it in the problems of our daily lives. Then we can prove its beneficent and healing power. The Bible tells us (Hebr.4:12 ), "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

When I consider the background of all the wonderful experiences I have had through Christian Science, it is entirely natural that I should feel a great sense of gratitude to God, who has given man dominion over all the earth. I am also grateful to Christ Jesus, who demonstrated that dominion for us, and to Mary Baker Eddy, who through her discovery of Christian Science helps us to do the works which Christ Jesus assured us that we should he able to do.—(Mrs.) Hanna Bredlund, Bromma (Stockholm), Sweden.
