In Isaiah (45:2, 3), this comforting message is given to those who are in bondage to hopelessness and physical suffering: "I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: and I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel."

Over twenty years ago my first testimony of healing was published in the Sentinel, bearing witness to the mighty power of divine Truth over the medical laws of heredity held over me since birth. After a childhood of suffering from malformation of the intestines, curvature of the spine, and other accompanying difficulties, I spent eight years in bed, undergoing every known method of medical and surgical treatment. After three major operations twenty eminent physicians in a large hospital pronounced the case hopeless. I was told that because of a mechanical appliance placed in the intestines as a result of the last operation I would never be able to live normally, but would always be restricted and limited in my efforts to do the things I desired to do. With the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and loving help from several practitioners at different times, I was enabled to rise and walk and do many of the things that had been pronounced impossible for me to do.

Through the revelation and unfolding of the Christ-idea in my consciousness I have been able to prove that my activity and ability depend upon God, that the material sense evidence does not apply to me as a child of God at all, that mortal mind has never done anything either for me or against me, and that my spiritual identity as God knows it has never been involved in deformity, sickness, surgery, or any other claim of the Adam-dream. I have realized that God, Mind, is the cause of my being; that my actual existence is supported by divine Principle alone.
