CHILDHOOD

Immortal aspect of the deathless man.
Perpetual innocence, undimmed by age,
Or blight, or time, or the world's evil, held
In that eternal Mind whose love controls
Its richest universe of pure ideas,
Rooted in Truth; forever source of joy;
Loved of the Father; glad impersonal ray
Of ever-present Soul, whose morning mild
Blesses earth's shores and everlastingly
Fills all with light; meek receptivity
And humble faith that trusts, despite the storm
It cannot see for Love, but knows the peace
Deep in the heart of things; freshness unspoiled;
Undying childhood, dayspring from above,
Be my true guide and model; fill my thought
With birthless beauty; accompany
My manhood and my womanhood, and be
An endless partner on my heavenward way.
