It is with a heart overflowing...
It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude for Christian Science that I submit this testimony. In 1940 in dire need, I asked a friend what I should do about an open sore of long standing from which a member of my family was suffering. I thought she would give me some home remedy, but she said, "Have you tried Christian Science?"
I was not ready to accept Science at that time, but five months later, alter the condition had grown rapidly worse, I cried out in desperation, "What shall I do?" and the answer came, "Why don't you try Christian Science?" I at once called on my friend, and she gave me a copy of The Christian Science Journal and recommended that I see a practitioner. When I left the practitioner's office that afternoon she said in effect, "You go home and know that you can leave this problem with God." I accepted this fact so completely that I went home fairly walking on air. The next morning there was no sign of a sore. It was an instantaneous healing.
I at once began the earnest study of Christian Science, and since then it has met my every need. A badly sprained ankle was quickly healed after I had declared that there are no accidents in God's kingdom. The pain left immediately, and I was able to walk, even though the swelling did not entirely vanish for several days.
I was quickly healed of susceptibility to severe colds. This healing was accomplished through the help of a practitioner and by my holding to the truth as given in "Miscellaneous Writing's" by Mrs. Eddy (p. 277 ), "No evidence before the material senses can close my eyes to the scientific proof that God, good, is supreme." This healing has been permanent.
While I am grateful for all these healings, and many more that I have experienced, I am most grateful for the better understanding that I have gained of God and man. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church and for the glorious opportunity church membership gives me of working in God's vineyard.—(Mrs.) Veda C. Salisbury, Pasadena, California.
