LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

Evening Post

Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Evening Post

A reference to Christian Science in an article on religious broadcasting by a bishop implies that this teaching is not on the side of Christianity, and this statement is misleading to your readers.

Without doubt Christian Science is true Christianity—the Christianity of the Bible and the exact and scientific statement of the Christian religion, as taught and practiced by Christ Jesus. Addressing his followers, our Master said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31, 32 ).

Throughout the civilized world many thousands have been healed and sinners have been regenerated through the teaching of Christian Science as a direct result of their adherence to the commands of Christ Jesus, and these glorious results must convince any sincere seeker for truth that this religion is indeed Christian in the truest sense of the word.

On page 138 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes: "Jesus established in the Christian era the precedent for all Christianity, theology, and healing. Christians are under as direct orders now, as they were then, to be Christlike, to possess the Christ-spirit, to follow the Christ-example, and to heal the sick as well as the sinning."

Christian Scientists are fully alive to these commands of our Master, and it is their earnest resolve to be obedient followers of him.
