Far Horizons

God's call to Abram was to lift his eyes
And look from out the place whereon he stood
To north, to southward, and to east and west,
For all the land he saw should be his own.
God bade him rise and walk throughout the land,
Which was forever, in its length and breadth,
To him and to his seed, God's covenant gift.

Truth bids each one today, Lift up your eyes,
Push ever northward, southward, east, and west
The far horizons of a vision new,
For all the land you see now shall be yours—
Yours, not by conquest of your brother man.
But by the putting off of fleshliness.
All that your eyes behold of hope or joy.
Of true forgiveness or humility,
Or healing ministry that sounds His praise,
Is heritage which all mankind may share.
All that pure intuition has revealed
Of that calm strength that dares to do God's will
And know that error will destroy itself
Is empire, richer than the dreams of kings.
All that you now perceive of God's great love,
Reflected in the brotherhood of man.
Links continents and men in bonds of peace.
This is the land. Rise, walk its length and breadth,
For all you see in Spirit shall be yours.
