"Don't take it in!"

"Don't take it in!" This wise admonition, when spoken by an experienced Christian Science practitioner to a student in the midst of a very difficult trial, served so to uplift thought spiritually that a complete healing of an overwhelming sense of grief was instantaneous and proved to be permanent. With her usual clarity, our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in the Christian Science textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 392): "Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously."

Since, in reality, God is the only Life, and Life is Spirit, it naturally follows that man, the complete expression of God, is the embodiment of Life, altogether spiritual, containing not one element of evil. With the clear, positive realization of this scientific thought, it is utterly impossible to admit into consciousness the spurious beliefs of age inactivity, weakness, frailty, or disintegration. Man, in God's image and likeness, is forever free, whole, ageless, deathless, possessing spiritual strength and continuous, unlimited activity.

We must also be alert to refuse acceptance into thought of the erroneous suggestion of inexperience, with its attendant limitations, lack of maturity, of wisdom, stability, and the like. Let us assert our God-given dominion over these restrictions of the carnal mind, and prove in our experience that man, as the representation of divine Mind, cannot lack any good thing or be limited in the abundant expression thereof. With this true concept, the falsity is annihilated, and one is enabled to go forward successfully in his human vocation.
