I should like to add my voice of...

I should like to add my voice of praise to the thousands of others for what Christian Science means to me. I was taught this truth when I was a child, and for that I am truly grateful.

When I was a year and a half old, I ate a spoonful of concentrated lye. We lived on a ranch three and a half miles from a Christian Science practitioner, and had no telephone. A great deal of time was necessary to get horses from the pasture and drive to town. My mother knew little of Science and was frightened. By the time we reached the practitioner my eyes were swollen shut and my lips swollen and blistered. But in a very short time both my frightened mother and I were fast asleep. This was in the afternoon, and we both slept through the rest of that day and night. When we awoke I was entirely normal and asked for my breakfast, which I ate with perfect ease and joy.

I have had many beautiful healings and proofs of God's care since that time, and now have a little girl of eight, whom I would not know how to train without this knowledge of our relationship to God. I am deeply grateful that she is learning to apply the truth she is taught, to give credit where credit is due, and, best of all, to be grateful to the source of all good.

Another proof of God's care was given recently. I was doing my laundry and had tightened my wringer as much as possible, when my hand was caught in it up to the wrist. I could not release the wringer, but had to reverse it to bring the hand back out. During this time I was rapidly and firmly declaring the truth about God and man as His image and likeness. When the hand came out it did not resemble a hand. I put it quickly behind me, and knew that an idea of God or any part of that idea could no more be mashed than could Love, Principle, Mind, God. In about fifteen minutes the pain had all gone. I went back to my washing, but continued my declarations. Before I finished the washing the stiffness had also left. When I thought of the hand again it was the next day when I was doing heavy spring cleaning, lifting rugs and mattresses, with no discord whatsoever.

For these and many other healings and proofs of God's care I am deeply grateful, as well as for membership in The Mother Church and in a Christian Science Society, and for the privilege of serving in this society. I am more grateful every day for Mrs. Eddy's unselfish efforts in establishing this religion of Love and Truth.

Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, ... ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." It is my constant desire to continue in his word daily in order to gain more and more of this truth that does make us free.—(Mrs.) Mary Lacer, Golden, Colorado.
