When I was a young girl, my mother had a lovely friend, who passed through a severe hardship in such a courageous manner that my parents and I were filled with admiration for her. It was then remarked that she was a Christian Scientist, a fact which was immediately linked in our thought to her manner of bearing the trouble referred to.

I remember remarking to my mother that I should like to have a religion such as our friend had, one which would enable me to meet trials, if necessary, as she had done. Later, I went to Chicago to live, and the first person to call on me was a Christian Science practitioner, a friend of my husband's. When she came in, I was in a fainting spell, and after I had recovered she spoke to me of Christian Science. The following Sunday I attended a Christian Science church. As the service proceeded, I was enraptured with the truth that was unfolded, the simple beauty of the entire service, and the love reflected by all present. I knew I had found that for which I had been long searching.

I soon united with a Christian Science Society, and during the thirty-four years which have followed, Christian Science has met my every need, mentally, morally, physically, and aesthetically. It has enabled us to rear our four children in the love of God. They have expressed continuous good health and joy, and harmony is the rule in our home. All through their school and university experience, Science has been the torch which kept their pathway lighted, and enabled them to become established later in desirable positions of trust and responsibility. Through the help of this wonderful Science, we have demonstrated the law of supply in our business and home.

My husband was healed of an extreme case of blood poisoning through the earnest work of a Christian Science practitioner. In one hour our eldest son, who was then seven years of age, was healed completely, after falling headfirst from the top of a ten-foot gymnasium ladder.

At one time I was healed of a broken wrist and fractured hand. In two weeks I was able, by relying entirely upon the power of Mind, to resume my work as librarian of the local Reading Room. Through the help of a practitioner the pain and fear disappeared without material assistance, and the healing proceeded naturally and normally under God's law.

Christian Science confirms the promise of Christ Jesus, "Whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do."

I am grateful beyond words for the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I am also grateful for the Christian Science movement, The Mother Church, the Publishing House, and all of Mrs. Eddy's works, which are above the price of rubies; also for the privilege of class instruction. —(Mrs.) Ethel Arbour Chase, Chicago, Illinois.
