The Undivided Garment

The soldiers hesitated there
Over his vesture. Who should own
That woven coat? They would not rend
What had been neither cut nor sewn,
Knowing how worthless part would be.

Oh, symbol true of Christ today
That comes to heal of sickness, sin,
Of sorrow, fear, and seeming loss;
And happy they who welcome in
The Christ, entire, eternally!
