I wish to give the following testimony out of deep gratitude for Christian Science and the many blessings I have received through it.

This Science was brought to my attention when I was nursing in a hospital. A new-found friend gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Up to that time, I knew nothing of the subject, but I started to read the book through courtesy to this friend. I must have been reaching out for Truth, because I got my first glimpse of how Jesus healed, and found that the teachings of Christ Jesus are made plain by our beloved Leader. I have proved the power of Truth many times in the past seventeen years, both for myself and for others.

During the winter of 1936 I had the following experience. Coming in one day from a home where I had been serving as a Christian Science nurse, I felt a sense of sickness and tried to overcome it by applying the truth as we are taught in Christian Science. However, as night came on I realized I had an attack of influenza, with a congested condition of the head and bronchial tubes. I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner. At seven o'clock the next morning, the practitioner was called again and told that a high fever and chills had continued through the night, and that I was not able to leave my bed. I had an appointment that morning, but it seemed impossible to keep it.

The practitioner came to my home and sat by me, voicing and realizing good. As she worked, there came such a sense of the presence and power of divine Love that nothing else mattered. I did not realize then that I was healed, but had an urge to get up and keep my appointment. I did so and had no desire to lie down again that day. Before I reached my destination there was complete freedom. From my experience as a medical nurse, I can say that under medical treatment I should have been in bed two weeks.

Christian Science heals quickly and permanently. For all that aids us in demonstrating this fact—the Bible and the works of Mrs. Eddy, our church organization with its many helpful agencies—and for the privilege of membership in this church, I am deeply grateful. — (Miss) Sara Lee Guild, Pasadena, California.
