For many years I have derived...

For many years I have derived much benefit from reading most carefully the testimonies in our periodicals, and it is with deep humility that I am now offering my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for establishing this helpful activity.

Christian Science has made life beautiful to me and has been my only physician and guide. An abundance of good has come to me and my family through its study and application. Through an invitation of some friends, I was led to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting many years ago. My husband became interested when he realized that Science was remolding my character. Both our children have attended the Christian Science Sunday School from the age of two. Although they have had some obstacles to overcome, with the loving help of a practitioner when necessary, every difficulty has been overcome.

The public school which the children attended, notified us that our son needed glasses. Knowing that we were Christian Scientists, they were willing and co-operative in allowing us to have help in our way. Christian Science treatment was lovingly given, and in the next examination no further mention was made of this condition. Many so-called children's diseases were overcome by the application of Science, without our even knowing the name or nature of the difficulties.

Financial difficulties during the so-called depression were successfully overcome by our realization that God, the All-in-all, is the divine substance of man and the universe, and there can be no increase or decrease of infinite good.

I should like also to express my profound gratitude for a healing which I received several years ago. Up to the time of this sickness I had had no physical problems to meet. However, while off guard, I came down under an illness without making any real effort to overcome self-pity, which made me its victim. After several months the trouble began to yield, and I was lovingly taken to the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. I remained there for about six weeks, during which time I studied and enjoyed the many benefits afforded. One evening during song service, while we were singing the Communion Hymn by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy (Poems, p. 75 ), the words, "Felt, ye the power of the Word?" stood out to me. I began to realize what our Leader was conveying by these words, and a great sense of gratitude overwhelmed me. Although I had been brought down to the service in a wheel chair, I got up and walked to the elevator and back to my room. Needless to say, my healing was complete, and shortly afterward I returned to my home. Ease in matter had allowed me to become somewhat confused, and this experience has taught me to watch my thinking, to be alert to deny aggressive mental suggestions, and to realize that divine omnipotence is the only power, divine omnipresence the only presence, and divine omniscience the only Mind.

During these times of seeming turmoil we are most grateful for The Christian Science Monitor, for it is indeed blessing all. I am unceasingly grateful for all the activities of the Christian Science movement.—(Mrs.) Minna Heim, Manhasset, New York.
