Vallejo, California (First Church).—Dedication services were held on June 29, 1941, in First Church of Christ, Scientist, Vallejo. Two services were held. At each service a historical record was read, which follows in part:

"The first public Christian Science services in Vallejo were held in 1904, in the old Samoset Hall on Georgia Street, and the first lecture was given in 1908. Shortly afterward, Christian Science Society, Vallejo, was formed, in accordance with the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy. Regular Sunday morning services and Wednesday evening meetings were held, and a Sunday school was conducted.

"In 1916, a Reading Room was opened to the public in the Steffan Building on Georgia Street.

"In April, 1922, the society became First Church of Christ, Scientist, Vallejo, a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.

"In 1923 the present property was acquired, and in June, 1927, a building committee was appointed. Plans and specifications were drawn up, and the contract was awarded for this building in February, 1929. The cornerstone was laid and the building completed; and the first regular services were conducted here on June 30, 1929.

"Christian Science churches are not dedicated until paid for. This edifice is now free of all indebtedness."—Vallejo Times-Herald.

Cristobal, Canal Zone (First Church).—The dedication service of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Cristobal, was held on Sunday, July 13, 1941.

During the service, a sketch of the history of the church was read. This follows, in part:

"Christian Science Society, Cristobal, was first recognized as a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Boston, Massachusetts, in 1916. Services were held in the community clubhouse, then in the old courthouse. About 1921 a Reading Room was opened.

"In June, 1934, the society became First Church of Christ, Scientist, Cristobal. The present site was obtained early in 1938, and construction was begun on the building in May of that year. The work was completed in four months, and the opening services were held in September, 1938."

It is well known that Christian Science churches are not dedicated until they are entirely free from debt.—Panama American.
