Calais, Maine (First Church).—Dedication of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Calais, Maine, took place on Sunday, April 25, 1937, with a special service at 3 p.m.

The church edifice, located on Germain Street, was built in 1913. However, it was not dedicated then, because Christian Science churches are dedicated only after they are entirely free from debt.

During the service, which followed the customary form of Christian Science dedicatory services, a short history of the church was read by the First Reader. The historical sketch closed with the following by Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 187 ): "May the divine light of Christian Science that lighteth every enlightened thought illumine your faith and understanding, exclude all darkness or doubt, and signal the perfect path wherein to walk, the perfect Principle whereby to demonstrate the perfect man and the perfect law of God."
