A Morning Blessing

May God, who gave you to me for a friend
Reveal Himself to you
More fully, and all earth-torn fissures mend
Better than we could do;
While on His Word alone shall each depend,
And every dawn anew
On swift white wings of prayer a blessing send,
Purer than dew;
That in His love our lives unseen may blend
And, daily, closer, through His life ascend,
As Truth's bright rays our outward days defend
From aught that love could rue;
So that the joy enfolding us may lend
Joy to the whole world too,
Till, ripened in the Love which knows no end
All ages through,
We dwell in that high secret place, my friend,
Love always knew!
