Church Alive

We talked, sharing stories and asking questions. We were different women from different paths.

Healing services

After the service I spoke to the First Reader, telling him of my healing. He said he chose the hymn and worked his readings around the ideas within the lyrics.

A ‘beam’ removed

I felt that I heard God say to me, “Oh, so you’re willing to pray for your community, but you’re not willing to pray for your own church?”

No room for comparisons

I’d left church as a young adult.

Red sneakers

He asked with a smile, “Where are your red shoes?” My eyes brimmed with tears of joy and relief.

Embody Church—all day, every day

Opportunities began opening up almost every day for me to share something about Church and Christian Science with new people.

Much more than a songbook

I think of the music like “clothing” for prayers. So we change into whatever’s appropriate for what we’re doing, but that doesn’t change who we are or how we pray.
Testimony meetings are a special time to participate in a unique mental environment where people can leave their troubles and fears at the door and be refreshed.
We realized that some of the younger students might enjoy hearing and learning from our older students.

Talk about what you love

To overcome uneasiness about telling someone about Christian Science, we just need to remember how much we love it.

Church Alive highlights

Living in a small southwestern town in New Mexico, without a Christian Science church or society, did not stop four individuals who live here—and have been used to attending Christian Science churches most of our lives—from finding a way to have church.

Healing and church

I have experienced healing at church many times over the years.
