The light that outshines tragedy
When I sang the final hymn at our church on Sunday following the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, I knew immediately that it had been chosen to send comfort to the children and families in that New England community. The hymn was a poem set to a composition by Beethoven:
Loving Father, we Thy children
Look to Thee in fear’s dark night
While the angels of Thy presence
Guide us upward to the light.
