"Where did Christian Science come from?" "God." "Yes; and who discovered it?" "Mary Baker Eddy." "Yes; and how was it given to us that we might study it?" "In Science and Health." "Yes; Science and Health—and what?" "Don't know."
The thought of what a key is, and what the Scriptures means was then brought out. Then I asked, "What does 'Key to the Scriptures' mean?" To which a nine-year-old girl replied: "To unlock our unbelief and open our understanding." I thought the answer would please you.
In love and gratitude which words cannot express, I am,
Obediently yours,
Etta Prince Williams.

"Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise."
Mary Baker Eddy.
Toledo, O., April 30, 1910.
Dear Mrs. Eddy:—I want to pour out a little of the joy that fills me tonight—gratitude for your life and work! I started to spend the evening with the Lord's Prayer, on which we are working in our Sunday School class. Not a minute could be spared for anything else, yet there lay a recent copy of the Monitor (how well it is named!). I opened it just to glance at the head-lines, and found the Christian Science article on the Home Forum page to be "The Lord's Prayer." So truly do I find "daily strength for daily needs" (Hymnal, p. 150) provided by divine Love and wisdom. What weapons of warfare God has given us through you! I am particularly grateful for the Monitor, which is daily giving to our boys and girls, little and big, a sheet that educates without polluting their wholesome thoughts with the sensationalism "that defileth or maketh a lie." Truly the world's crying need for a clean newspaper is met.
Lovingly and gratefully,
Leila Close Harsch.

Beloved Leader:—For ten years this church has endeavored to prove itself to be a vigorous and fruitful branch of The Mother Vine. Tonight, in this annual meeting, our hearts turn in loving gratitude to you for the many benefits received as the result of our effort to follow your wise leadership. We desire to express to you, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, our deepest love and unswerving loyalty, by living in obedience to the Bible and to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," thereby accomplishing the healing work which our Master so lovingly taught and to which you so faithfully direct us. In so doing we shall "forget self in laboring for mankind," "woo the weary wanderer" to our door, "win the pilgrim and stranger" to our church, and "find access to the heart of humanity" (Miscellaneous Writings, P. 155).
Thanking you for your "Pean of Praise," we are
Lovingly yours,
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Winchester, Mass.

Beloved Leader:—My heart says, blessed mother, for all the blessings of my life have come from your revelation of the Scriptures. The moment I heard your definition of God, as given in Science and Health, I knew, as you have expressed it in your Communion hymn, that I had heard the "glad sound," and felt the "power of the Word," and I was instantly healed of severe ailments from which I had suffered for so many years that I had commenced to believe they were a part of me. But you opened my eyes and ears to the truths that Jesus came to teach, and I have never lost that "glad sound," although the roar of human sense has been loud and long. Seven years ago I realized that as a practitioner and an active member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of New York city, I was forced to take a stand for Principle or for personality. From your teachings I saw the importance of being loyal to my teacher, although I was never blind to the personal character of those teachings. I never confused it with your teaching, for I knew, " 'Tis the same hand unfolds His power, and writes the page" (Christ and Christmas.)
I was punished for resisting this personal teaching, through my only daughter, who was stricken with typhoid fever. My husband and relatives not being Christian Scientists, they insisted upon calling a physician, and this physician was certainly sent by God, for he was perfectly willing to leave the case in God's hands, each condition being met in Christian Science as soon as voiced, except the high temperature, which remained at a dangerous point with very little intermission for nearly seven months. We had professional nurses during that time, who tried to make trouble by reporting the case to the board of health, so we were compelled to have two consultations, the doctors on both occasions expressing their amazement at my daughter's harmonious condition with such a temperature. The last physician—although he did not think that she could live—said to the nurse that this was "the first practical demonstration" he had ever seen in Christian Science. None of these physicians offered any medicine. At the end of seven months we had so far conquered the suggestions of evil that the temperature became normal. My daughter had to learn to walk again, and in a short time was most harmonious. During these months of trial, different students from First Church would come and beg me to return to my teacher and let her heal my child, as I was referred to as an example of what must happen to a disloyal student.
It never occurred to me to look for help in conditions I had outgrown. I knew that divine Love had led me out of these conditions, and would still lead me on. Never for one moment was there a doubt or fear of the result of standing for Truth. I never lost the true ring, the "glad sound" that came to me through your teachings, as found in all of your writings, and I was able to hold the beginning of my confidence steadfast unto the end. Dear Leader, can you doubt my love and gratitude to God, for permitting me in the slightest degree to understand the language of Spirit that you speak? I want to express my gratitude for our Board of Directors of The Mother Church, who are fearless in their work of proving to the world that in Christian Science Truth is Truth and purity is purity. Pardon this long letter—I could make it a book and then the half of my blessings would not be told.
A loving student of your revelations,
Ida Kate Schultze.

Beloved Leader:—First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Brooklyn, N. Y., assembled in annual corporate meeting, on May 9, 1910, sends its loving thanks for the untiring watchfulness, penetrating foresight, and profound sagacity of your leadership, guiding, guarding, and preserving from all contamination the Christ Science which, discovered and founded by you, is rapidly uplifting and ennobling the race, bringing to countless thousands healing, redemption, peace, joy, love,—the kingdom of heaven. It is our earnest prayer that your life of consecration and unselfed love may inspire us to strive for the same exalted vision, a like devotion to Truth, so that in meekness and humility we may attest by our lives that we are also following in the steps of the lowly Nazarene, seeking always to be divinely led to work as he would have us work in our Father's vineyard.

Dear Mrs. Eddy:—With love and gratitude the Sunday School of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of South Bend, Ind., is sending Mr. Chase fifty dollars to be added to the publishing house building fund. We rejoice in God's abundance and overflow of goodness, and in being able to send not only the one tenth, but two thirds of all we possess. Our prayer with it is that it may be applied to the furtherance and continuance of the conveniences and harmonies which are manifestation manifestation of divine Mind in the publishing of our dearly beloved Christian Science literature.
We note that the Sunday this amount was appropriated (May 1), the largest collection was taken which this Sunday School has ever had, although no previous announcement had been made regarding the donation or call for special collection.
Martha B. Prell, Secretary and Treasurer.
