God’s constant protection

Growing up in Christian Science, I always knew that God answers our prayers. In recent years, I have learned how God knows exactly what we need before we are even aware we need it.

On page 470 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Man is the expression of God’s being.” So we are not helpless mortals who need to plead with God to take care of us. As the expression of God’s being, we reflect the one all-knowing divine Mind. We are never separated from God. Daily prayer helps keep these truths clearly in thought. We can expect to be always safe and aware of whatever we need to know.

Several years ago I felt impelled to pray one evening. I thought that I was being led to pray for my older son’s safety while traveling. He was driving alone at night through rain and thunderstorms with possible tornados. I prayed about his safety. I knew that he was a spiritual child of God and could never be separated from God. He called around 11:00 p.m. to say he had arrived at his grandmother’s safely. I thanked God. But I still felt there was something else needing my prayers, though I had no idea what it was.
