Injuries healed

During Christian Science class instruction, if our class would start to get bogged down when discussing some false claim of evil, the teacher would pause and ask, “How many minds are there?” As students of Christian Science, which teaches God, good, is All and is divine Mind, we could have only one answer, “One!” This simple dialogue never failed to get us right back on track, and this truth has helped me find healing since then. We learned how to approach all things from the perspective of spiritual reality in class, and one of the hypothetical situations I’d been praying about was the threat of a labor strike.

I was learning to pray on the basis that God, the one Mind, informs, motivates, and governs all His children, His spiritual ideas. Mind does not take sides, because there are no sides in the oneness of Mind. Mind creates and blesses all, and all creation partakes of all God’s blessings. Moreover, Mind enables you and me and everyone to understand and accept these blessings. Accordingly, I saw that no idea of Mind can strike out on its own, strike another, or be stricken.

One day after class when my prayer about the concept of a strike was fresh in thought, I went for a walk that took me through a building with a set of heavy glass doors. As I pushed one of the doors open, I dropped my umbrella and automatically leaned over to retrieve it. The door swung shut, and its big brass knob hit my head, flipping me onto my back.
