My friend, a Christian Scientist, sighed on the other end of the phone. “I don’t think I’ve had a healing in quite a while,” she said.  

I asked her if she meant that she simply hadn’t felt at all ill, sad, or in pain for that “while.”  

After a moment, she said, “No, I haven’t.”
