Dominion over flu

Mary Baker Eddy wrote of the news: “The press unwittingly sends forth many sorrows and diseases among the human family. It does this by giving names to diseases and by printing long descriptions which mirror images of disease distinctly in thought” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, pp. 196–197).

Every winter, when the media bombard us with reports of colds and flu, I am so grateful to be able to turn to our Pastor, the Bible and Science and Health, for the good news of man’s immunity from disease of any sort. Since I found Christian Science well over 40 years ago, I have felt divine Love’s healing touch many times.

One Christmas season, when I was suffering with symptoms of the flu, I turned my thought away from the body and read the Christian Science Bible Lesson for that week. Using the inspiring truths I was reading, I prayed to see my oneness with God. The Bible declares, “God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” (Genesis 1:27). I knew God, Spirit, is perfect, so I, His spiritual image and likeness, must be perfect, too. I could not include anything unlike God.
