On duty

Coexistent with God,
We guard the world
And worlds upon worlds.
Sentinels at our post,
Troubadours against trouble,
Warriors against sin.
But let no apathy, dreaminess,
Or naiveté contrive
To strive against us,
For we are watchmen and women,
Guardians for each other
    in thought,
Daily knowing no arrow, no sword
Can prevail against us,
No intimidation of the carnal mind,
No harm, no alarm,
No lion in a den.
For Christ is light.
For God is Love.
