Blow the trumpet

I wish to express gratitude for a healing I experienced last year. My knee had been hurting all one Saturday, so much so that I had to take a wheelchair at the grocery store, since I could not stand or walk very long. I kept praying and declaring spiritual facts regarding the true nature of man, myself included, as a spiritual being, in whom harmony reigns and pain is not known. I made efforts to abstain from thinking about how this pain could have come along, reflecting along the lines of the title of the Christian Science Bible Lesson for that week: “Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?” I began to see that since divine Mind creates man, and since there is no pain or real existence in matter, it means that there is no cause and effect in matter, neither in the past nor in the present. The thought came, “That which affirms the pain, made the pain.” This related to a familiar passage from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures where Mary Baker Eddy stated, “…that which affirms weariness, made that weariness” (p. 218).

At the church service on Sunday morning, the readings were invigorating, and the solo had a line that struck me: “Blow the trumpet!” I found myself energized and enthusiastic about the presence and power of God. I pondered the fact that we need to continue to proclaim the glory of God no matter what the material senses say. By the end of the service, I was feeling no worry about the knee condition, and sometime later that same day, I noticed that the pain was gone. Since then, I have continued to understand better that as a spiritual idea of God I am not subject to laws of matter.

On the following Monday, I was able to do the usual physical activity I do every day and go to the gym again. I am indeed very grateful for this quick healing in Christian Science.
