The spiritual healing that Jesus taught

If you’ve ever wondered where the Christian healers are today, this issue of the Sentinel is for you!

At its heart is an observation from the founder of this magazine, Mary Baker Eddy: “The ancient worthies caught glorious glimpses of the Messiah or Christ, and their truer sense of Christ baptized them in Spirit—submerged them in a sense so pure it made seers of men, and Christian healers” (Message to The Mother Church for 1901, p. 9).

Madora Kibbe’s poem picks up on this as she calls for us all to be like the ancient healers who were, as she says, “mighty in their trust in God” (p. 4). And Skip Phinney urges us to follow the example of Jesus’ disciples who “yearned to grasp and understand more and more of the realness of Spirit, God, and His kingdom, which Jesus was teaching them” (p. 5). Without ignoring historical perspectives, Phinney insists that infinite Spirit pervades the whole of being right now. He says that it always has and always will embrace all of creation.
