This particular column is not a critical review, but a guide through one of the most exhaustive studies I have ever seen, let alone read (over the past six weeks), of healing in the Bible. It’s scholarly, painstakingly argued, and detailed (with several footnotes absorbing as much as one third of a page).

Healing in the Bible comprises expositions of nine texts from the Old Testament, and six from the New, along with some discussion of the work of the Jewish scribe Jesus ben Sirach of Jerusalem (200–175 BC).
