Letters

I just finished the article by Kim Shippey in the August 13 Sentinel called “In danger, a reporter prays.” I have followed Mr. Shippey’s articles and writing for 20 years or so, and enjoy every word.

Next, I read “Peacemaking in my neighborhood” by Martha Olson, and this one is a doozy. To stand up and ask for silent prayer in public is both bold and an example of sharing the Christ with the world that I have never seen.

And now I’ve read Gloria Onyuru’s piece on Syria [“Prayer that goes beneath the surface in Syria”]. In cherishing Syria I have been asking people questions about what is happening over there and have not found out much. My dad was so upset he would not even talk about it, and most of my friends really didn’t know anything. Gloria’s article totally filled me in and lifted weights from me. What a treatment leading up to a healing for Syria.
