In this series, individuals share how taking Christian Science Primary class instruction has strengthened their spiritual understanding, and brought increasing inspiration and healing to their lives.

A good investment

We’d just gotten out of college when we went through class. My husband had enlisted in the United States Army and had all of the stature of a private. Without questioning whether he could leave basic training, we applied for class and were accepted. Then the sober facts set in. What on earth were we thinking? Privates can’t be released from basic training for Christian Science class instruction. We told the teacher.

The Army released him.

Then came the $100 apiece for instruction. Wow. When you make $68.14 a month in the Army that can seem like a formidable amount, especially when we would need to pay for travel and two weeks lodging. But we managed to find an answer that met our needs.
