God is Love

For the lesson titled "Love" from July 25-31, 2011

In the Middle Ages , while much of the Western world practiced monotheism, there was still a question of God’s existence. Thus began the ontological arguments for the existence of God, beginning with the defense from Anselm of Canterbury (1033–1109). In the ancient world, it wasn’t a matter of whether God existed or not, but which God should be worshipped.

This week’s Bible Lesson, titled “Love,” offers a response to the two questions, “Which God do we worship?” and “How do we know God exists?”

Knowing God through love is foundational to the theologies of both the Old and New Testaments.
