For healing and restoration in Japan

Fujiko Signs, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science in Tokyo, Japan, participated in this live Sentinel audio chat on spirituality.com. Fujiko is President of The Mother Church and a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. This chat has been edited for readability.

I feel like we are “disastered out” right now with the earthquake in New Zealand and the devastation in Japan. How can I pray about the sense that there is a battle between good and evil—and at times, like evil is more powerful than good?

That sense of being overwhelmed is what we can take care of first, because you don’t really want it to overwhelm your life. It’s more important that you can be kind and compassionate to those who are closest to you, someone who is standing by you—like a checker at the store who is taking care of your groceries.
