What it doesn't say

When I read what it says
I see what it doesn’t say.
And I pause to prayerfully ponder.

I see it says
she brought forth her firstborn son,
and wrapped him in swaddling clothes,
and laid him in a manger;
because there was no room for them in the inn.
Simply says what she does.
Sounds gentle.

Doesn’t say she was sad.
Perhaps she saw
the perfect place prepared,
for, in perfection, there’s no room
for imperfection.
Is she singing a new song of nativity?
A simple song of infinite harmony?
I humbly, prayerfully ponder.
