12-hour performance in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the King James version

“Sixty-Six Books: A unique 12-hour performance at Westminster Abbey” www.westminster-abbey.org.

Following the successful collaboration earlier this year on In the Beginning, Westminster Abbey will reunite with the Bush Theatre for a 12-hour overnight performance of Sixty-Six Books on 21 October.

This unique promenade performance for 200 members of the public will see the Abbey open its doors, in a way never done before, to the Bush Theatre’s ambitious performance cycle featuring artists from across the globe. A selection of works from Sixty-Six Books has been specially chosen for the occasion.

For their inaugural production in their new home at the old library on Uxbridge Road, the Bush has engaged 66 writers to respond to each of the 66 books in the King James Bible in celebration of its 400th year anniversary. From Jeanette Winterson to Jack Thorne, Carol Ann Duffy to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Billy Bragg to Wole Soyinka, 66 playwrights, poets, songwriters, and novelists from all faiths and none, from over a dozen countries and across five continents, form this epic cycle of theatre.
