THE GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER

As a brand-new grandmother I intimately know the miracle of unconditional love. From the moment I held our newborn grand-twins in my arms, I was filled with an indescribable joy and tenderness that told me this was the beginning of another love story in my life. A story of deep, never-ending, no-strings-attached love.

"A mother's affection," Mary Baker Eddy wrote—and I might add "grandmother's" here—"cannot be weaned from her child, because the mother-love includes purity and constancy, both of which are immortal" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 60). This parenting love comes from a higher source than ourselves—our heavenly Father-Mother God.

It is God who creates and mothers the universe, including every individual identity. His/Her mothering gently upholds us at difficult times, whispers truths into our thought, lifts us up after a fall, heals us, fills us with joy, and keeps us smiling. It could be called the greatest love story ever—the love God has for each of us. The Bible talks about this. It shows God's unchanging love for humankind in the lives of people throughout the centuries, and especially in the life and healing work of Christ Jesus. This divine Love story continues today in the healings and blessings in our own lives. Whether we are the parents, the grandparents, or the children, all of us are chosen by God to feel and reflect His great love now, no matter what our circumstances.
