QUICKLY HEALED OF FLU SYMPTOMS AND INJURY

The morning that my daughter-in-law and I were to travel to another city for a graduation, I woke up with the symptoms of stomach flu. We were going by plane for an hour and a half, returning that night. It was to be a very long day. Because we'd also be using other public transportation—trains and taxis—and would be doing a lot of walking, I knew I didn't want to take this illness with me. As is my custom, I started the morning by acknowledging God as the all-loving, all-acting, all-wise God. A God who loves us, cares for us, heals us. And I thanked God for the day and for my opportunity to express His love to my fellow man.

Still, I was afraid to eat anything. This fear, however, I realized had no power since all power belongs to God. God gives us strength as we go about our daily events. As Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy states: "Having one God, one Mind, unfolds the power that heals the sick, and fulfils these sayings of Scripture, 'I am the Lord that healeth thee' ..." (p. 276). Having had many experiences in my life of God's healing power, I felt confident in depending on the divine presence to take care of my needs as well as those of everyone I came in contact with.

I knew that my daughter-in-law, who is also a student of Christian Science, was praying as well, though I didn't tell her how I was feeling. We were looking forward to a wonderful day, and we knew God was ever present to guard, guide, and care for us every moment. This statement is one that I particularly like, and I prayed with that morning: "Nothing can interfere with the harmony of being nor end the existence of man in Science" (Science and Health, p. 427).
