LETTERS

I'd like to thank you for all the good work put into the Sentinel each week. One aspect I particularly enjoy is the feature on the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson. I would especially like to thank you for publishing Christa Kreutz's article related to the lesson on "Unreality" in the September 27 issue ["Fresh start"].

The distinction she makes between monotheism and henotheism was new and significant to me; it has helped me see the importance in Christian Science demonstration of being monotheistic, worshipping one God only, instead of henotheistic, worshipping one God while believing that other gods exist. Mary Baker Eddy's use of the "omni's" to describe the allness of God helps to further solidify the idea (see Science and Health, pp. 465:16—466:4).

I had never heard of "henotheism" and am very grateful to have been introduced to this subtle, but important, distinction from monotheism. It has given a real boost to my prayers and practice of Christian Science.
