THE TRUTH is, from nearly the moment I found Christian Science and learned about Christian Science practitioners, I determined that that was what I wanted to do with my life.

For years I'd suffered with numerous ailments, including panic attacks, migraine headaches, and bulimia. And during my young adult years, I'd become addicted to valium, cigarettes, and coffee. I tried medication, self-help books, religious research, therapy, and surgery, but generally to no avail. Blessed with friends and involved in marvelous musical pursuits, still I often felt I was merely surviving.

Finally one Sunday, living on my own, I thought, I've got to get to church! Even with all the medications, I'd always turn to God — in spite of not really knowing who or what God was.
